Understanding Rule Types
Conflict rules allow you to either restrict of require 1 or more products in a configuration.
There are two kinds of rules:
| Type | What is does | Customer experience |
| Incompatible | Prevents two or more items from being selected together. | If the customer selects Item A, Item B is grayed out with a warning message. |
| Requires | Forces one or more item(s) to be selected whenever another is selected. | If the customer selects Item A, Item B is automatically added to the configuration. |
Example — Incompatible: A red frame and a blue motor cannot be used together. If a customer picks the red frame, the blue motor becomes unavailable.
