How to Authorize Your Email Domain

Authorizing your own domain is essential because it replaces generic platform addresses with a recognizable sender like orders@yourstore.com, which can increase email open and delivery rates by up to 90%. This process builds customer trust and prevents reminder emails from being flagged as spam or ignored. The authorization works by adding specific DNS verification records to prove ownership without granting NetSource access to your inbox or domain settings. You retain full control over your domain at all times and can choose to remove this authorization whenever necessary.

Why This Matters

By default, reminder emails are sent from a generic platform email address that customers may not recognize. Emails from unknown senders are more likely to be flagged as spam or ignored.

Authorizing your own domain (such as yourstore.com) means emails come from an address like orders@yourstore.com. This can increase delivery and open rates by up to 90% because customers trust emails from brands they recognize.

What This Process Does

It adds a few DNS verification records to prove you own your domain. It does not give NetSource access to your email inbox, your DNS settings, or any other part of your domain. You keep full control at all times and can remove the authorization whenever you choose.

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. On the Marketing page, click Show details next to the Authorize NetSource to Send Your Emails heading.
  2. Enter your Domain (for example: yourstore.com). Do not include www or https.
  3. Enter your preferred From email (for example: orders@yourstore.com). If left blank, noreply@yourstore.com is used.
  4. Click Start Verification.
  5. A set of DNS records will appear. These records need to be added to your domain's DNS settings.

Adding the DNS Records

If you manage your own DNS, log in to your domain registrar or hosting provider (such as GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap, or similar) and add the records shown.

If someone else manages your DNS, click the Copy button to copy a plain-text version of the instructions. You can paste this into an email or support ticket and send it to your IT team, web host, or domain registrar.

Checking Verification Status

After adding the DNS records, click Check Status. Verification usually takes a few minutes but can take up to 48 hours depending on your DNS provider. The page will show one of these statuses:

  • Verified (green badge) — Your domain is confirmed. Emails are being sent from your custom address.
  • Pending verification (yellow badge) — The DNS records have been submitted but are not yet confirmed. Try checking again in a few minutes.
  • Not configured — No domain has been set up yet.

Removing Your Domain

If you no longer want to use a custom sender, click Remove domain & use default sender. Emails will revert to the platform default address. You can re-verify the same domain later without re-adding DNS records, or verify a different domain with new DNS setup.
