How Rules Work on the Storefront

Once created and assigned, configurator rules automatically manage product selections during the customer buying process.

How Do Rules Work?

Once a rule is created and assigned to a product, it works automatically when customers use the configurator:

Incompatible rules:  When a customer selects the source item, all incompatible target items are grayed out and show a warning message. The customer must deselect the source item to make those targets available again.

Requires rules:   When a customer selects the source item, the required target items are automatically added to the configuration with a message explaining why. The required quantity you set is respected.

Rules only apply to products they are assigned to. A rule has no effect on a product until you explicitly assign it.
