Getting Started with Marketing Automation
To set up Marketing Automation, first subscribe to the add-on through the app dashboard and complete the Shopify billing approval. It is highly recommended to authorize your email domain by adding the provided DNS records to your hosting provider, which ensures reminders are sent from your store’s address rather than a generic one. Once verified, you must toggle the master switch to "Enabled" in the Quote Reminders card for any emails to be sent.
Step 1: Subscribe to the Add-On
- Open the NetSource Configurator app in your Shopify admin.
- Go to the Dashboard page.
- Choose a plan (or edit your current plan) and check the Marketing Automation checkbox.
- Confirm the updated subscription price and complete the Shopify billing approval.
This is the most important step for email deliverability. By default, reminder emails are sent from a generic platform address. Customers are far more likely to open emails that come from your own domain (for example, orders@yourstore.com).
- On the Marketing page, click Show details to expand the Authorize NetSource to Send Your Emails section.
- Enter your domain (such as yourstore.com) and your preferred From address.
- Click Start Verification.
- Add the DNS records displayed to your domain's DNS settings (your hosting provider, GoDaddy, Cloudflare, etc.).
- If you are not sure how to add DNS records, use the Copy button to copy the instructions and send them to whoever manages your domain.
- Click Check Status to verify. Verification typically takes a few minutes to a few hours.
Once verified, a green Verified badge appears indicating all emails will be sent from your domain.
Step 3: Enable the Master SwitchIn the Quote Reminders card, set the toggle to Enabled. This is the master switch — no emails are sent unless this is turned on.
Step 4: Enable and Configure Your TracksEnable at least one of the three reminder tracks (Saved, Submitted, or Finalized) and review the reminder steps. Default best-practice steps are already set up for you.
Step 5: Send a Test EmailBefore going live, use the Test This Track section to send test emails to yourself. This lets you see exactly what your customers will receive.
Step 6: SaveClick the Save button at the top of the page. Your reminders will begin processing automatically within 24 hours.
